The story told in my scrolly-telling experience was about the finances of the summer Olympics. I started with describing how long the Olympics have been held and moved on to explaining sources of funding, including from the International Olympic Committee (IOC). I chose this topic because I am double majoring in Economics and Cartography/GIS so I was interested in finding an economic concern that I could illustrate visually. The Olympics have always been fascinating to me, especially the large deficits I heard the host countries face after hosting. My primary audience is the general public, as I tried to describe the issue with enough context for someone to read the website without previous economic knowledge. I found data from the main Olympics website and through research articles breaking down the issue. Read the full article.
